Can I Have an A Please?
Cammie McKenzie - 2002
The other day I was drivving home with my five-year old daughter and as we entered Cape Coral it hit me! Yes, that
big tall sign that has new messages every few days. I've always thought of it as a kind of welcome sign to those
who are entering the Cape for the first time. Well, it hit me right between the eyes when I noticed the two
misspelled words that it was so proudly displaying. I'm not one for perfection at any cost but, folks, we are
talking about a huge sign that no one can miss! Not able to control myself, I drove directly to the establishment
thinking someone would surely want to know of this mistake and correct it immediately. I raced up to the desk and
expressed my concern. The listener wasn't nearly as troubled as I was. Instead he explained that, no doubt, they
ran out of the other letters. Call me crazy but I say "Order More". And, in the meantime, please don't give our
children the idea that it is okay to exchange one letter for another! Imagine that!
